Polished Concrete or Engineered Hardwood?

One nice thing about the42 is that the suites come with an option of polished concrete or engineered wood flooring. From what I've seen, similar condo projects (such as the Bauer Lofts)
come with laminate and charge a big upgrade for engineered hardwood. I've heard $6000 for a 1000 square foot condo ... ridiculous!

By the way, I think there is a mistake on the42's website about this .. on the Amenities page it says "Choice of polished concrete or laminate wood flooring" .. but my purchase agreement says "Choice of polished concrete or engineered wood flooring". And certainly I've been told all along that it is engineered wood.

Anyway, this is a dilemma .. which do I pick? Hardwood is pretty nice. Polished concrete sounds awesome, but seems like a scarier choice. Which will bring me a higher resale?

Here's a site I found that talks about polished concrete .. they make it sound pretty good ...

Right now I'm leaning toward the polished concrete ... but only because it seems cooler.

Help?

My opinion?? Don't go with the polished concrete...very, cold and unforgiving. Hardwood is modern, popular and a much warmer, more inviting look. That's my opinion and I'm stickin to it!

More likely it was already included in the price, so less choice for you. :-) That's how these things work.

um .. well .. ya, that's a very good point :)

This gives me an idea for a future post .. comparing the value of the42 against other recent condo developments. eg - price per square foot, standard features included, cost of upgrades, etc.

congratulations on the condo.. just to give you an idea, the engineered hardwood in my place for one floor (total coverage probably around 500 sq feet, the other 100-150 is ceramic) cost me $5,000 as an upgrade. Because it's a condo it's also sometimes difficult to install it yourself and meet the condo associations guidelines.. for me it was a no brainer, i just don't like carpet.

Hey Brian .. agree with you there .. carpet is pure evil. Thanks for the info - it still surprises me how much developers are charging for hardwood, when carpet is the other choice it's no choice at all :)

Meant to mention .. I asked the polished concrete vs hardwood question on a real estate forum and got a pretty good response
